Every Saturday the CSPH highlights news or recent research in the field of human sexuality. This week we’re looking at an article discussing how some teenage girls may be making incorrect assumptions about the HPV vaccine and what it protects them from. The article looks at a study published in the January issue of the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine that found out of 339 girls (average age nearly 17) polled after receiving an HPV vaccine, 24 percent mistakenly thought they were at lower risk for other STIs such as syphilis and gonorrhea.
